Mexican Ground Beef: Savor the Flavor

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Yields: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1/2 tbsp chili powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

  • 3 tbsp tomato paste

  • 2/3 cup water

Directions

In a skillet, over medium heat, cook the ground beef. Use a spatula to break up the meat into pieces and let it cook all the way through until no longer pink. Occassionally toss the meat to ensure it's cooked evenly.

Tip: Don't over do the process of breaking up the meat, you don't want smashed ground beef.

When the ground beef is no longer pink, drain the grease and place the skillet back on the stovetop.

Sprinkle in all of the seasonings, 1/2 tbsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp dried oregano, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, and 1/4 tsp onion powder.

Doesn't that smell wonderful? Watch everyone draw nearer to the kitchen with this step.

Scoop in 2 tbsps tomato paste, pour in 2/3 cup water, and mix well to combine.

Cover with a lid and let this simmer for 5 minutes on medium low.

If some liquid remains that can be drained into the sink. Scoop into a bowl and serve!
